Two great golf events planned in August
Next month, RCSC golfers have a chance to tee off after dark and show off their skills on the fairways with two great events.
First, the immensely popular Moonlight Madness 9-hole golf tournament returns to Lakes East on August 13, then RCSC will sponsor a 9-hole skills competition at Lakes West on August 27.
Moonlight Madness
Like prior Moonlight Madness events, next month’s tournament, with an 8pm shotgun start, will be a two-person scramble format limited to 56 players (men/woman/mixed). Event will be flighted and handicapped. Players are encouraged to sign up early, however, as previous Moonlight Madness events filled up quickly. Cost to play is: $23 (RCSC cardholder), $20 (Surcharge Annual Pass), $17 (No Fee Annual Pass) and $26 (guests, non-cardholders). Cost includes green fees, a “glow” golf ball, prizes, certificates and beverages. Signup deadline is August 8.
RCSC Skills Competition
The skills competition at Lakes West will give golfers a chance to play a low liner or hit a high flop shot. Lakes West will be re-routed and the par allocation changed to challenge even the most seasoned players. We will set the golf course up to challenge you with shots that you normally see the tour pros struggle with. Tee times will be between noon and 1pm unless entries necessitate a shotgun. Entry is $10 per player to be turned into the Riverview Pro Shop plus green fees to be paid at the course on the day of play. The prize/payout structure will be determined by the amount of entries. The event will be flighted based on your handicap but your handicap will not be used. For example, if there are 25 people signed up, 20 of which are men and five women then we will take the handicaps of the 20 men and divide them equally to make flights. The five women would then be in a separate flight. The par allocation will also be changed for the women playing. If you do not have a handicap and would like to play, please sign up and you will be put into a flight without handicaps. Sign up deadline is August 19.
Signup sheets for both events are available at all RCSC golf course pro shops. For more information, call Golf Events Manager Mark Hennie at 623-876-3053.
